Will your church return to normal (meaning a slow, decline and death?) 
or will it be a new time of substantial renewal 
and rebirth of a dynamic and vital Christian movement?

I believe that rebirth is a real option that will be in our grasp!
But it will take some on-fire leadership with a commitment to rebuild.

To that end, I hope you can join us for a Zoom gathering of clergy like yourself 
 who will network regluarly about the Post-Covid church.

and how our networking can facilitate some real help for you.

to this initial sharing about the scope of the challenge facing our churches 
when Covid winds down and churches reopen. 

Our main issue: 
Will we just return to normal?    
…or will this be an opportunity 
to re-start the Christian movement that swept the world.

      TST (Theology/Strategy/Tactics) 

…is a weekly, on-going, drop-in sharing/discussion/input session   to help us all discern what the church needs to be   for the coming “Roaring ’20’s” that economists are forecasting.   

 I’ve been thinking a lot about the changes that will be happening soon,   and I see this gathering of focussed clergy as a time of profound re-centering   and resurrection in God’s Kingdom of Heaven here on earth.   I’d like to know what your thinking is on this crisis/opportunity for the local church. 

 Here are some of the ideas I’d like us to discuss: 

1) I’ve been reading the news lately and it looks like that in 3-6 months local churches might be able to offer “Grand Re-Openings” for our churches. (Modified, of course, depending on how the Covid variants effect our populations.)   This would mean a gradual build up of neighborhood connections, small group activities and leadership training,  along with some the planning of some large “Welcome Back” Events   and also a well-thought out schedule of substantial follow up opportunities.   

2) Discussion would be around:   What might all those look like?    What’s the biblical inspiration for them?           How might they be initiated and supported in the local church?   

3) In order to network the best of your thinking with others in our Annual Conference  (and perhaps beyond!), we're having a weekly "zoom-huddle" of clergy who are in local churches to share what they’re planning now, what has worked (and didn’t work) and most importantly WHY!    

4) TST:  This “Why” would cover issues and ideas: "Theologically, Strategically and Tactically” (TST).   To often we focus on the reports of great things local congregations do without an understanding of how that got organized to get those results.   To often we neglect the deeper kind of theological conversations on these topics that were oh so frequent during our seminary training.  To often we blaze our own trail without relying on the “Christian Conferencing” and support of our sisters and brothers that our tradition is known for.   

5) Are you interested in being part of this group?    Initially, we are meeting at 10:30 am on Wednesday, (Next meeting is Wednesday, Mar. 24)

(Other times can be considered if more convent to you or if the group grows beyond 8-10 people.  Please let me know when you can meet and I'll work to find others for that time. )

There has been so much happening recently in the swirling of social concerns,   spiritual journeys and church organization structures   that we need some place to sort it all out.
