The Nominations and Leadership Development Committee can become the key team in the local church to create and sustain vitality and spiritual growth. 

It's charged to "identify, develop, deploy, evaluate, and monitor Christian spiritual leadership for the local congregation." (¶258.1 2016 Book of Discipline, UMC) 

It's a challenge, however, breaking out of the "pigeon-hole mentality" of simply working a few months to fill the "slots" of leadership.

Pastor Terry has worked with this "Leadership and Nominations Team" and discovered ways to have a full year's worth of meetings that does the hard work of leadership development and accountability.

The string of Spiritual Gifts that Paul talks about in his New Testament Epistles can be an inspiration and a challenge to each and every church. 

When approached with an open heart and a desire to be led by Christ, having a regular emphasis on Spiritual gifts, challenging each and every new members to seek and apply their spiritual gifts, and periodically call the whole congregation to think about their own spiritual gifts pays great dividends.

Pastor Terry has been teaching and working with Spiritual Gifts for over 25 years in a number of small and large congregations.

So often their agenda of dollars, campus maintenance and employee matters overwhelms even the most dedicated of ministry, outreach and spiritual growth.

It takes a special approach to retrain and at times replace leaders who still rely on "how it was back when..."  rather than responding to how it is now. 

Pastor Terry not only has experience in transforming church leadership teams but also coaching Pastors and leaders through this difficult process. 

Discernment habits and procedures are always needed but rarely studies. 

Using our traditional "Quadrilateral" approach, Pastor Terry gives church leaders of all types the tools they need to grow spiritually as well as apply good practices of discernment to local church problems.
